My name is Mitchell Johnson and it is an honor of mine to be serving as your pastor at Turkeytown United Methodist Church. As it is when you meet anyone new in your life, I think it is important to start by knowing something about who you are meeting.
I was born in 1996 and have lived in Rainbow City, Alabama basically my whole
life. I graduated high school in 2015 from Southside High School and graduated from
Birmingham-Southern College with an honors degree in religion and history in 2019.
Since my graduation from BSC, I have been enrolled at Duke Divinity School, first as a
residential student, but now as a hybrid student, pursuing my Masters of Divinity
degree. It has been, and continues to be my desire, to serve in the North Alabama
Conference as a pastor. This call is one that I have felt upon my life since I was a junior
in high school and one that still remains strong in my life today.
Whenever I am not in the church working, there are several hobbies that I like to
pursue. I have been an avid golf fan, and player, since I was in late elementary school. I
try to play a round, or even hit some range balls, as often as I can. I also enjoy writing
creatively, whether it be prose or poetry. Traveling around the country is also something
that I have enjoyed tremendously, both by myself and with family. My fiancé Madeline
and I are going to be married on March 26, 2022 and are looking forward to starting off
a new life as a married unit!
